Congratulations,

you’re a senior!

Thank you for visiting. I love photography and I’m truly honored that you’re considering me as your senior photographer. This is an opportunity to celebrate your youth, uniqueness and the amazing person you’ve become. I look forward to creating a set of images that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

What to Expect

Preparing for your session

HOW LONG DOES THE SESSION TYPICALLY LAST?
My sessions usually last 2 hours, which includes time for about 3-4 outfit changes.

HOW DO I PICK A LOCATION FOR MY SESSION?
You’re welcome to bring up ideas for your shoot that speak to your personality. Naperville has a wide variety of locations to choose from. Additional fees may apply for travel outside of Naperville.

SHOULD PARENTS COME TO THE SESSION?
This is up to you. The important thing is that you’re able to relax and be comfortable. Sometimes that means doing photos without Mom or Dad, it is your choice. You’re also welcome to bring friends or siblings.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Wear something that makes you feel comfortable! Bold colors and patterns photograph really well.

CAN WE PHOTOGRAPH AT ANY TIME OF DAY?
Mornings and evenings work best. The sun at these times of day provide interesting skies and add drama to the photographs. It is best to avoid taking photos when the sun is directly overhead.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
The weather can be unpredictable at times, but it is rare that we’ll have to reschedule. If there is a cancellation, I’ll work to accommodate you at the next available and convenient time.

Bringing the photo studio outdoors

My Style

To make you look your best, not only am I bringing world-class cameras and lenses, I’m also bringing studio lighting equipment outdoors. Adding light to a portrait makes eyes shine bright, skin look smooth and adds drama to the photograph. By adding light I’m able to balance your portrait with the ambient light of the environment around you.

An example without additional lighting. The photo exposed for ambient light, the background is perfect but the subject is dark. If I expose for the subject the background would be too bright.

My Style

The results are clear. An additional light was also placed behind the subject for additional separation from the background.
Working with lighting equipment outdoors can be tricky and since I’m managing the camera, I generally need help from someone to hold a light stand to keep it from falling down if there is wind. I’ll need you to bring along someone who is willing to help.

Behind the scenes: Umbrellas or softboxes with a flash or strobe to create a beautiful soft light that highlights your features. An additional light was also placed behind the subject for additional separation from the background.

While it’s true that the best camera is the one that you have with you, the difference between the latest smartphone (left) and a professional photographer with camera and lighting (right) is dramatic.

The Deliverables

Once the photo shoot is complete, I’ll begin sorting, styling and editing your photos. All of the photos (excluding those with blinks or other mishaps) will be available in an online gallery for you to view. Utilizing the gallery you can mark your favorite photos from the session.Favorite selections which receive additional editing and full touch-up work as needed. 15 digital images are included with the beginning photo package. Other packages are available which include more digital images, included prints even a custom mobile app for viewing and sharing your photo session. See below.
Touching up your photos: My experience with Photoshop and other post processing tools won’t be used to change who you are or the way you look. I’ll use these tools to help you look your best, so there is no need to worry about acne, blemishes or flyaway hair. The time I put into your photographs goes far beyond the session itself.

Prints

The digital images from the gallery are yours to download, email, post online and print yourself if you choose. To ensure the quality of your prints are equal to what you’re viewing online, I highly recommend using the print service I offer through my gallery. My service has a variety of print options to choose from including unique sizes and materials such as canvas. The quality is superb; better than you find locally.

Don’t let your memories of this time get lost on a your computer’s hard drive or online in a Facebook or Instagram feed. As life moves on, these digital images will become more difficult to find. The absolute best way to experience a photograph is to have it printed, framed and hung on a wall where you’ll see it every day. A professionally printed photograph will last a lifetime.

The photo package you choose can be updated at any time to include additional photos and prints.

Professional make-up services are available for an additional $150 per session.
